Armaments handed over in Basra

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Different types of armaments were handed over to the government during a conference on national reconciliation, it was announced today.  The conference currently being held in Basra, includes the attendance of the minister of national reconciliation and a number of tribesmen.  Minister Amer al-Khuza’i declared the handing over the armaments due to continued talks and discussions with elements that were convinced to join the national reconciliation process.  “We reject any conciliation with the Baath Party because that is now history,” he added. General Faisal al-Ibadi, Basra‘s police director, said that different types of armaments were delivered , “which will give the people in Basra a sense of security.” RM (TS)/SR   559
