Iraq’s Integrity Commission to detain 17 Iraqi officials under corruption charges

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Member of Iraq’s Integrity Commission, Talal al-Zubae, has said on Sunday that his Commission has decided to detain 17 high-ranking Iraqi government officials, charged with corruption, in the forthcoming 10 days, ordering border points to prevent the officials, who resigned following the issuance of such charges against them to leave Iraq.   “There are many names, against whom arrest orders were issued and the forthcoming 10 days shall witness arrest orders against 17 high-ranking Iraqi state officials, being part of the Commission’s activity to restore the financial properties of the Iraqi people,” Zubae told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Zubae said that “the Parliament’s Integrity Commission had issued orders for all Iraqi border points, including names of officials, who have resigned from their posts, in order to escape justice, because they were charged with corruption.”   SKH (ST) 413
