British companies should support Iraq – Howarth

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The British Minister for International Security Strategy stressed today that Britain wants to help Iraq, pointing out that the bilateral relations are taking commercial trends and economic cooperation, according to the British Embassy‘s press office.  In the statement, as received by IraqiNews.com, Minister Gerald Howarth visited Baghdad for two days beginning on July 20, during which he met Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshiar Zebari, the National Security Advisor, and senior military officials.  “We are proud for the role we played in Iraq in liberating it from the tyranny of the previous regime, and we are keen to extend all possible assistance,” he added.  Minister Howarth added that “following the end of British naval training, bilateral relations were developed via the commercial and trade trends,” according to the statement.  He concluded that he will exert all possible efforts to convince British companies to support security in a democratic, independent and flourishing Iraq.  RM (TS)/SR 342
