Iraqi-Kuwaiti naval forces in first maneuver

THI QAR / IraqiNews.com: U.S. forces announced today that Iraqi-Kuwaiti naval forces carried out the first pre-organized training exercise to control the unlawful fishermen.   The U.S. statement, as received by IraqiNews.com, added that this training exercise is the first pre-planned military maneuver between Iraqi and Kuwaiti forces, while the U.S. naval force kept the observer position to give moral support.   The aim of the maneuver is to prevent unlawful fishing inside other’s territorial waters, and how to control them, the statement highlighted.   The statement added that this scenario was trained on 25 July instant, which is part of the trainings made in 2008, according to a protocol signed between the two sides to guarantee territorial water in the Gulf.   Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations entered a stage of media tension in the last few weeks due to the Kuwaiti intention to build Mobarak Terminal, which Iraq considered it will strangle its maritime channel and affect its economy.
