Serious dialogue needed between Kuwait – Iraq – Saleh

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Kurdish Government’s Premier Barham Saleh called today for a serious and brotherly dialogue between Iraq and Kuwait, pointing out that the tension in relations will not benefit the joint interests of the two sides. Saleh stated to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat daily, published today, that problems between the two countries should be solved by diplomatic means, not by media wrangling, taking into consideration the sensitivity of relations. “The memories of Saddam Hussein‘s invasion still haunt every Kuwait. We should not overlook the fact that there are still people in Iraq that have the Saddamist outlook on Kuwait and other neighbors,” he said. “Now is time for serious and brotherly dialogue to resolve these ongoing problems,” he said. “The new Iraq wants to live in peace with itself and neighbors,” he highlighted. “We hope that our brotherly Kuwaitis do not shoulder us with the crimes of Saddam, and work honestly with us to surpass the past, from which we both suffered for decades,” he concluded.
