Three Iraqi citizens killed, 6 others injured in Joint U.S.-Iraqi air-landing in Salahal-Din

SALAHAL-DIN / IraqiNews.com: Three Iraqi citizens, belonging to the Refei’at Tribe of Salahal-Din Province, have been killed and 6 others were injured, including 4 women, in a joint US-Iraqi air-landing on a village, inhabited by the Tribe, on Saturday, the Tribe’s Sheikh said.   “A Joint U.S.-Iraqi force have carried out an air-landing on al-Refei’at village, 3 km to the west of Balad township, south of Tikrit, the center of Salahal-Din Province, killing 3 persons, among them an old man and wounding 6 others, including 4 women,” Sheikh Yousif al-Refei’e told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Sheikh Yousif said the joint fore “has surrounded the attacked village, preventing anybody to enter or leave it.”   “People, living on their house roves, due to power cuts, have heard the sound of the planes, and when they woke up to see what had been taking place, the joint air-force opened fire on them,” Sheikh Yousif said, adding that “the village citizens are peaceful people and had never allowed armed groups to act in their village.”   Tikrit, the center of Salahal-Din Province , is 175 km to the northwest of Baghdad .   SKH (IT)     631
