No US military raids without Thi Qar police – sources
THI QAR / IraqiNews.com: Thi Qar police refused the raid of U.S. forces on a residence east of Nassiriya without first having gotten its consent, security sources said today. The source told IraqiNews.com that a U.S. force, with air support, on Tuesday evening tried to enter a residence in Fidhaliyah area, 15 km east of the city, following surveillance which indicated a number of weapons were kept in the house. He pointed out that police outlined that U.S. forces were strictly forbidden from such actions unless accompanied by a police force. “The American side accepted these term, where the house was besieged, but nothing was found inside,” the source pointed out. Last month, U.S. forces arrested 11 persons through 4 raids in the province. Nassiriya, the center of Thi Qar province, lies 380 km south of the capital, Baghdad. RM (TS)/SR 620
