Investigation opened for purchase of 100,000 tons of sugar with high prices, MP says

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Member of the Iraqi Parliament’s Integrity Commission, Aliyia Nuseif, has said on Friday that southern Iraq ’s Basra Integrity Commission had opened an investigation about a government’s deal to purchase 100,000 tons of sugar with higher prices than the International level.   “The Trade Ministry had signed a contract with Zahrat al-Jibal Company to supply it with 100,000 tons of sugar with prices much higher than the average international levels,” Nuseif told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Nuseif said that “the Committee, that had signed the contract, included the Trade Ministry’s Inspector, its Undersecretary and Advisor,” adding that Basra Integrity Commission had laid hands on the sugar deal, that was kept in the stores of Basra Province.”   SKH (ST)
