Iraq’s al-Wifaq Movement denies charges about naming new Legislature

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Official Spokesman of al-Wifaq Movement, led by Iraq’s former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, has denied charges that it had nominated a Legislature for al-Iraqiya Coalition for a Parliament Member.   “ Iraq ’s National al-Wifaq Movement reaffirms that there had been a group that had addressed incorrect charges against the Movement and its symbols,” Hadi Wali al-Dalimy told IraqiNews.com News Agency on Friday.   He said that a report that “Al-Wifaq Movement, is linked to the Saudi Royal Palace,” saying: “al-Wifaq is surprised that such issues be spread at such timing, when some persons had visited its office on Thursday, expressing rejection to name the Legislature, Ammar Hassan al-Gharbawi, demanding his replacement by Mrs. Asmaa Shaker Hammoudi, who got 726 votes in the last elections.”   “Al-Iraqiya Coalition and al-Wifaq Movement have decided that Legislature Ammar al-Gharbawi become their main candidate, because of being a national personality, as well as having got the largest number of votes, that reached 4,282 votes in Wassit elections, thing that created tension by some people, especially Mrs. Asmaa Hammoudi,” Dalimy said.   Member of the White al-Iraqiya Bloc, Quteiba al-Jibouri, had said in a news conference on Thursday that his bloc would raise a case against the Parliament’s Chairmanship, that demanded al-Iraqiya Candidate, Ammar al-Gharbawi, to read the oath, as substitute of the State Minister of Tribal Affairs, that was covered by the recent Cabinet trimming, Jamal al-Battikh, before getting the decision of the Federal Court to allow Battikh to restore his previous Parliament’s seat that he held before the trimming.   SKH (RT)
