Committee sent to Kuwait “incorrect” – MP

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: White Iraqiya Bloc’s spokeswoman described the Iraqi committee sent to investigate Kuwaiti Mobarak terminal as “not right,” calling to publicly announce the final report prepared by the committee.  An Iraqi technical delegation recently visited Kuwait to discuss matters pertaining to the terminal.  In a statement, as received by IraqiNews.com, MP Alia Nisaif pointed out that the committee has one representative for all of the Iraqi ports, oil and environment ministries, “as though the committee investigated the damage of oil exports or the possibility of environmental pollution.”  The committee announced that it was able to convince the Kuwaiti side not to implement phase IV of the terminal, which was met with criticism from by MP Nisaif.  She demanded that the parliament should take control of the dossier, including the formation of the committees.  Kuwait announced on 6 April last the start of work in Mobarak terminal, one year after the Iraqi declaration to build the Greater Fao Port. Work has not yet begun on the Greater Fao Port.  The  Kuwaiti side claimed that the terminal will not affect the Iraqi economy or naval routes, while Iraqi experts believe the opposite and demand that the project’s location be changed.
