Death of Kurds requires independent investigation – Amnesty International

SULAIMANIYA / IraqiNews.com: Amnesty International called today for an “independent investigation” of the death of seven Kurds, all members of the same family, who died in the bombing of a car within Iraqi territory in Kurdistan, according to a statement issued. The statement, as received by IraqiNews.com, called for an independent investigation of the deaths of two women and four children, calling on the Turkish government to abide by the international laws and human rights. “A time table should be announced for the investigation which should be publicly published and compensate the family for such loss,” the statement added. Seven people of the same family were killed on 21 August instant when a Turkish missile hit their car in a bordering area of Sulaimaniyah province, which aroused public and political indignations.   The Iranian bombardment continued for the last two months, while the Turkish began two weeks ago, which has led to a number of casualties and material losses in the border villages.   The Turkish army is continuing its raids, under the pretext of chasing PKK members in the Iraqi mountains, following 30-Turkish casualties inflicted by the PKK members last week.   Turkey announced it will continue its operations until all PKK members are terminated and have ceased their military actions inside Turkey.   RM (TI)/SR 552
