Nat’l Alliance will not vote on US troop extension

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A legislature for Iraq’s al-Ahrar (Liberals) Bloc has said on Monday that the National Alliance will not vote for any agreement with the Americans, confirming that his Bloc “does not act unilaterally, but as part of the National Alliance.”   “The position of the National Alliance rejects the presence of the American occupation forces in Iraq, in any form, including the presence of the American training forces,” Amir al-Kinany said.   “The signing of security agreements are within the authorities of the Council of Ministers and not the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,” he said, expressing expectations that the Council will not pass such an agreement.”   The Security Agreement, signed between Baghdad and Washington in 2008, confirmed the commitment that the American troops would leave Iraq by the end of December of 2011.   SKH (TS)/SR 301
