Two personalities nominated for Interior Minister’s post

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Two leading personalities, Riyadh Gharib and Faleh al-Fayadh, have been nominated for the vacant Interior Minister’s post in the current Iraqi Cabinet, a Legislature of the National Coalition, led by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, said on Tuesday.   “The most outstanding candidates to hold the vacant Interior Minister’s post are Riyadh Gharib and Faleh al-Fayadh,” Legislature Qassem al-Aaraji told IraqiNews.com news agency, adding that the National Coalition “is planning to settle one of the two candidates for the post within one week.”   Differences had taken place since several months about the candidates for the vacant Interior and Defense Ministers posts, the first being the share of the National Coalition and the second of al-Iraqiya Coalition, planned to be presented for independent personalities, with each side rejecting the candidate of the other.   Aaraji had blamed al-Iraqiya Coalition, led by former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, for the delay of naming the candidates for the security ministers’ posts, charging it with “having failed to nominate any person to occupy the Defense Minister’s post, that would be accepted by other political blocs.”   Sources close for al-Iraqiya Coalition had stated recently that it had presented 9 candidates for the Defense Minister’s post for Iraqi President, Jalal Talabani, in order to pass their names for the Prime Minister for his final approval.   SKH (RT)
