URGENT: US Army patrol attacked in south Iraq’s Thi-Qar Province

THI-QAR / IraqiNews.com: An American Army patrol has become target for 3 explosive charges blasts in southern Iraq ’s Thi-Qar Province , a Thi-Qar security source reported on Sunday.   “Three explosive charges blew off against a US Army patrol that passed on the main road, connecting southern Iraq ’s Missan and Thi-Qar Provinces , close to Qalat-Sikar township, 100 km to the north of Nassirya, the center of Thi-Qar Province on Sunday,” the security source told IraqiNews.com news agency.   He said the security forces in the area had inspected it, finding a rocket-launching pad and an 82-mlm mortar-launching pad, ready for launching.   The US forces had been target for several attacks in Rifa’e township, while passing between its military base in Amara city and Echo base in the nearby Diwaniya city.   Nassiriya, the center of Thi-Qar Province , is 380 km to the south of Baghdad .   SKH (ST)
