Talabani calls for Ocalan house-arrest

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi President Jalal Talabani requested Ankara to transfer the head of the Kurdish Workers Party Abdulla Ocalan from his cell to house-arrest in order to reach a ceasefire with the PKK, the Turkish daily Taraf reported.   In its today’s issue, the paper reported that Talabani requested this of Turkish Assistant Foreign Minister Faraydon Snirlioglu in order to “reach peace and a ceasefire in Turkey.”   “The dialogue between the Kurds and the Turks is in the interest of both parties. No one can solve the problems by using force,” the paper quoted Talabani as saying.  RM (TP)/SR 248
