Talabani, Maliki, discuss political developments

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s President, Jalal Talabani and Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, have discussed on Friday the current developments on the Iraqi arena and means for strengthening  alliances among the “historic allies,” and expanding them in the light of the national alliances, supporting the political process and the building of the State, an Iraqi Presidency statement reported on Saturday.      The statement pointed out that the said topics were discussed in a meeting on Friday evening between President Talabani Prime Minister Maliki.      “The fruitful meeting had discussed the recent evelopments on the Iraqi arena and the Region, which included the exchange of viewpoints between the President and the Prime Minister, towards the strengthening of the alliances between the historic allies, through the settlement of all suspended issues through dialogue,” the statement stressed. As regards to the means for strengthening relations between the Federal Government and the Kurdistan Region’s government, the statement said, adding that “both sides had confirmed necessity of a visit by the Kurdistan Region’s delegation to Baghdad, that would be welcomed by the Prime Minister, in order to settle the political, economic and social issues.” Skh (IT)       925
