Talabani confers with his Iranian Counterpart – Arab League’s Secretary General

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s President Jalal Talabani has conferred in New York on Friday with his Iranian Counterpart, Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, on bilateral relations between Baghdad and Washington and the Arab League’s Secretary General, Nabil al-Arabi, a Presidency statement reported.   “President Talabani has discussed in the United Nations in New York with the Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, the bilateral relations and means for their development, as well as the settlement of issues in difference, through objective dialogue, aimed at the establishment of neighborly relations and cooperation, that achieves security and stability, serving the interest of both peoples,” the statement stressed.   The meeting was attended by the Foreign Ministers of both countries, Hoshiar Zibary and Ali Akbar Salehy, along with other officials, the statement added.   “Talabani had confirmed during his meeting with the Arab League’s Secretary-General, Nabil al-Arabi, Iraq’s determination and readiness to host the Arab Summit in Baghdad next March, pointing out that Arabi had confirmed the Arab League’s commitment to achieve its agreement with Iraq in this respect,” the statement concluded.   SKH (IT) 270
