Gang for hard currency counterfeiting arrested in Mosul

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: A four-member gang for hard currency counterfeiting has been arrested by an Iraqi Army force in northern Iraq ’s city of Mosul , the center of Ninewa Province , an Iraqi Army source reported on Tuesday.   “An Iraqi Army force has detained a 4-member hard currency counterfeiting gang in east Mosul ’s Karama and Hay al-Arabi districts, on Monday night,” the Army source told IraqiNews.com news agency.   “The gang was involved in dealing with counterfeited currency, smuggled into Iraq from Syria , through Rabi’a township, 120 km to the northwest of Mosul ,” he said, adding that “the gang was detained thanks to intelligence information.”   He stressed that the Army force had discovered 94,000 counterfeited dollars with the gang during its detention.   The city of Mosul , the center of Ninewa Province , is 405 km to the north of Baghdad .   SKH (ST)   448
