Diplomatic district to be built in Karbala

KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: Karbala’s governor informed IraqiNews.com today that the local government will establish a diplomatic district in the city. Amal al-Din al-Hir told IraqiNews.com that Karbala has become an important city for its tourism potential, investments and opening new consulates in it. He added that there are requests to open consulates in Karbala from Bahrain, India, Turkey, Pakistan, and Kuwait. In Karbala there is only the Iranian consulate at the present time. Karbala lies 108 km southwest of Iraq’s capital, Baghdad.
