Call to release tribal sheikh – MP

DIWANIYA / IraqiNews.com:  The Parliamentary Tribal Commission Chairman called for the release of Lihaibat’s Tribal Sheikh. MP Hussein Ali al-Shaalan told IraqiNews.com that the government has to release the sheikh, whether he was arrested by the Iraqi or American forces. He criticized regular attacks on tribal sheikhs, particularly in central Iraq. Last Monday, U.S.forces arrested Lihaibat’s tribal sheikh with the assistance of helicopter air support, security sources reported. RM (TP)/SR 54
