Iraqi forces unable to prevent PKK members – MP

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Member of the Parliamentary Security and Defence Commission disclosed today that the Iraqi forces are incapable of preventing the anti-Turkish PKK party from staying in Iraqi northern territories, pointing out that the Kurdistan government is responsible for the security in the northern region. MP Hamid al-Mutlaq told IraqiNews.com that “the Iraqi army and other security forces are unable to prevent anti-Turkish PKK members from entering these territories”. Media and news agencies reports said that thousands of Turkish soldiers entered Iraqi territories in the northern front, after PKK members killing 24 Turkish soldiers and wounding 18. He added that “there should be a cooperation between all Iraqi and Kurdish political circles against any terrorist or foreign breach”. Mutlaq did not expect the Iraqi Parliament will convene a special session on Turkish intrusion, due to the absence of a number of MPs in Mecca for pilgrimage. He advised to have a unified and national stand to defend Iraqi sovereignty, so that Iraq will not be a haven for terrorism and exporting crises to neighboring countries. 39
