Baghdad Federal Govt silent about Salahal-Di?n’s decision announcing it as “Region.”

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Federal government of Baghdad has not issued any reaction till today (Saturday) towardsthe decision of Salahal-Din Province’s Council that announced the Province is a “Region,” with an independent economic and administration last Thursday, according to official sources. There had been no-official comments that the decision had been ‘constitutional and legal,’ to be followed with other measures, including Law No.13 for 2008, related to the special rules regarding the formation of “regions,” whilst others had considered thedecision as “part of pressures on the Central Government to get larger gains by the new Region. Salahal-Din’s Provincial Council had voted by majority last Thursday to consider the province as a “Region” within ‘united Iraq,’ whilst 20 of its members, belonging to the State of Law Coalition, led by Iraq‘s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, did not attend the voting. The decision of Salahal-Din’s Council took place as reaction towards the detention of dozens of former Baath Party members and former Iraqi Army officers, under charges of organizing illegal party meetings, along with the sacking of 140 Tikrit University professors and employees, in implementation of the Questioning & Justice Law in Iraq.
