Salah al-Din region “unwanted idea” – MP

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: An al-Iraqiya bloc MP regarded the decision made by Salah al-Din province to create an independent region as an “unwanted idea at this stage,” pointing out that the regions’ formation is a civilizational approach approved by the constitution. “We oppose the line that divides Iraq between Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds,” MP Arshad al-Salehi told IraqiNews.com. “The formation of the regions needs further scientific, academic, and political study, provided it will not divide Iraq,” he added. Twenty members of Salah al-Din‘s Provincial Council, out of a total of 28, voted for proclaiming the province as an independent region due to many differences with the central government.
