Civil war in Iraq not possible – MP

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: An al-Iraqiya MP expressed astonishment with Kurdish region President’s Masoud Barzani recent statements about the potential for a civil war, excluding the chance that this would happen in Iraq following the U.S.forces withdrawal. MP Ahmed al-Jbouri told IraqiNews.com that Barzani’s statement is “not good for the political process.” “The Kurdish position was always clearly in support of the presence of U.S.forces, despite differences with other blocs,” he added. “The potential of civil war has vanished , because we solve our problems through dialogue,” he noted. Earlier, Barzani warned against the eruption of a civil war if the U.S.forces are withdrawn, pointing that the Kurds will try to prevent it, but will not play a part in it. RM (TI)/SR 67
