Kurdistan Alliance Legislature supports Salah al-Din Region

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A legislature from the northern Iraqi region of Kurdistan has said on Sunday that his Alliance supported the announcement made by north-central Iraq‘s Salah al-Din Province to declare itself a region. “The announcement made by Salah al-Din province with regards to their intention to declare themselves a region has come as a reaction, and not in support for the the Federal System in Iraq,” Farhad Amin Salim told IraqiNews.com news agency, adding that the Kurdistan Alliance supports the announcement of Salah al-Din as a Region. “The officials in Salah al-Din Province’s Council have confirmed that their Region would become independent both administratively and economically,” but he said that “such a decision stands counter to the constitutional and legal conditions of Law No.13 of the executive measures to form Regions, issued by the Iraqi Parliament in 2008.” Yesterday a State of Law MP declared that calls to establish a region in Salah al-Din is a division of Iraq.
