CBI sells 205 million US dollars in Monday auction

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) has sold U.S.$205 million in its auction for the sale and purchase of currencies on Monday, at an average rate of 1,170 dinars per dollar, exceeding the last auction which saw the sale of 154 million dollars,” a CBI daily bulletin reported. “The total demand for the U.S.dollar on Monday reached 205,630,000, covered by the CBI at an average rate of 1,170 dinars per dollar.Sunday’s auction had registered the sale of 154 million 13,000 dollars,” it added. Monday’s auction was distributed over cash sales of 14 million 586,000 dollars, at an average selling rate of 1,183 dinars per dollar, along with the Bank’s interest of 13 dinars per dollar.Foreign transfers registered 191 million 44,000 dollars at an average selling rate of 1,183 dinars per dollar and a 13 dinar interest per each dollar. The bullet noted that none of the banks, including the 24 banks that attended the Monday’s, offered to sell dollars. The CBI runs weekly auctions from Sunday through Thursday, charging an interest of 13 dinars per dollar , along with charging 13 dinars per each dollar transferred abroad. SKH (TS)/SR 106
