Work on Sports City will continue in Basra – Minister

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi minister of sports and youth announced today that work on the Sports City in Basra province will continue according to schedule, despite the decision to move Khaliji 21 vent to Bahrain, according to a statement issued by the ministry. The statement, which was received by IraqiNews.com, quoted the minister saying that the work will continue and “the main ceiling of the playground shall be arranged, which will have the capacity for 65,000 spectators.” He described the city as “as strategic depth to Iraqi sports in general, not only for a certain tournament.” RM (TP)/SR 26
