Gang for antiquities smuggling arrested in Najaf
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A gang for smuggling antiquities abroad was arrested today having 40 pieces that dated back to Sasanid era, Najaf governor announced today. Governor Adnan al-Zarfi told IraqiNews.com that the national security forces arrested the gang after one month follow-up. Historical sites in Najaf province, particularly in Hira area, were plundered by thousands of antique pieces, as estimated by experts. Najaf city lies 160 km south of the capital, Baghdad. RM (TP) 99
