UN Sec-General’s Representative in Iraq calls Iraq’s Leaders to shoulder their responsibilities to stop violence

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The UN Secretary-General’s Representative in Iraq, Martin Kobler, has condemned  the explosions that took place in Baghdad on Thursday and caused a large number of victims, including children, calling on Iraq‘s Leaderships to shoulder their responsibilities to put an urgent end for violence in the country.”These horrible crimes, committed against the Iraqi people, must stop and the violence must end, if this country wishes to achieve a prosperous and secure future its people deserves,” the UN Baghdad office quoted Kobler as saying in a statement, copy of which was received by IraqiNews.com news agency.”No Iraqi citizen or any innocent child should bear such acts, and it is the responsibility of all Iraqi Leaderships to act urgently, with feeling of responsibility and unity, to put an end for the current violence,” he said, adding that “the Iraqi people deserves to achieve a secure and prosperous future, without fear for their life, security and safety.”Kobler reiterated United Nation’s commitment to help Iraq‘s government and people, in their efforts to build an Iraq, enjoying peace, democracy and prosperity. Noteworthy is that several Baghdad areas had witnessed booby-trapped car and explosive charges blasts that killed and injured dozens of people, whilst the country is witnessing a strong political crisis, that followed charges by Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, against Vice-President and Leader of al-Iraqiya Coalition, Tareq al-Hashimy, with having been behind terrorist acts and a court decision to detain and investigate him, along with another decision by Maliki to withdraw trust from his Deputy Prime Minister, Saleh al-Mutlaq, who is also an Iraqiya leader.SKH (PT)719
