Hashimy charges Iraqi govt. with being behind Baghdad’s Thursday explosions
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq‘s Vice-President, Tareq al-Hashimy, has charged Iraqi government parties with having been behind the explosions that caused dozens of victims in Baghdad on Thursday. “The series of attacks that targeted several Baghdad areas on Thursday, killing about 70 people and wounding 180 others, had been caused by certain parties inside the Iraqi government,” Hashimy told BBC in an interview on Friday. Several Baghdad areas had witnessed a series of explosions last Thursday, that killed and wounded over 250 people, at a time when the country had been witnessing a serious political crisis, in the background of charges against Vice-President Hashimy, a leader of al-Iraqiya Coalition, with having been behind terrorist acts, along with Prime Minister’ Nouri al-Maliki’s decision to withdraw trust from his Deputy Prime Minister, Saleh al-Mutlaq, also an al-Iraqiya leader. Hashimy had also shouldered the United States with “responsibility for the current developments in Iraq,” amid differences that pushed Maliki to freeze the division of power with al-Iraqiya, led by former Prime Minister, Iyad Allawi, which decided to boycott the meetings of the government and the Parliament.
