VARIETY: More than 200 drug dealers arrested in Sulaimaniya city in 2011

SULAIMANIYA / IraqiNews.com: North Iraq Kurdistan’s city of Sulaimaniya has witnessed the detention of over 200 drug dealers, along with about 6 kilograms of drugs during the year 2011, the city’s Asayish (Kurdish Security) Directorate reported on Thursday. The Director of the Anti-Drug Section in the said Directorate, Karzan Aziz, told a news conference, attended by Iraqi News: “We have managed this year to arrest 208 drug dealers, including 32 who were sentenced for courts, whilst 36 others have been released for failure to prove evidences against them, adding that the Asayish forces had confiscated about 6 kilograms and 429 grams of Tiryak drug, about 720 kilograms of Hashish and 119 drug pills. Aziz said that the majority of the detainees have come from outside Kurdistan Region.
