Oglu to meet Sadr in Iran – press report

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Turkish Zamman Today newspaper reported today that Turkish foreign minister Ahmet Dawood Oglu will hold talks with Iraqi Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr. Both personalities are present in Iran at this time. The paper expected that the talks will concentrate on rising tensions between Sunni and Shiite elements in Syria. These talks come amid reports that Sadr sent his militias to Damascus to support Syrian president Bashar al-Asad, who is facing troubles and protests since March last, according to the paper. The paper added that Oglu’s visit comes to Iran amid tensions and suspense of rising Sunni and Shiite conflicts in the Middle East, which could be ” a suicide” for the whole region. Oglu stated to governmental Anatol new agency that “we are determined not to have a cold war, because sectarian tensions are suicides for the region”.
