Al-Iraqiya sacks 6 legislatures over Parliament attendance

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Al-Iraqiya Bloc, led by former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, has decided on Saturday to sack six of its members, due to their attendance of a Parliament session last Thursday despite the Bloc’s boycott of the Parliament sessions, al-Iraqiya Legislature Talal al-Zuba’e reported. “Al-Iraqiya Bloc held a meeting, attended by all its members on Friday, in which they discussed all the issues on the political arena,” Zoba’e told IraqiNews.com news agency. “A decision was made in the meeting to sack its six legislatures, who attended the Parliament’s session last Thursday, due to the breaking of their Bloc’s decision to boycott the Parliament’s sessions,” he added. Zoba’e named the al-Iraqiya Legislatures as Ahmed al-Jiboury, Abdul-Rahman al-Luezy, Juma’a al-Tuweity, Kamal al-Duleimy, Qais al-Shadir and Mohammed al-Karbouly. “We had also agreed in the meeting on the issue of the committee, formed by al-Iraqiya Bloc and the National Alliance (led by PM Nouri al-Maliki), comprised of 15 members from each Alliance, supported by Prime Minister Maliki and the Parliament Speaker, Usama al-Nujeify, during their meeting last Thursday, mission of which would continue for 2 weeks and its presentation of the results of its meetings for the National Alliance,” he said. “Our Alliance also discussed the issue of the General National Conference, called for by the Iraqi President, for which we had expressed support for the Conference, considered one of the most important events to overcome the current political crisis,” Zuba’e added.
