Parliament holds its Saturday session after completion of majority

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Parliament has held its Saturday session this afternoon, under chairmanship of its Speaker, Usama al-Nujeify, and attendance of 171 of its total 225 members, according to a Parliament’s media source. “The Parliament had held its ordinary session of its 2nd legislative year, under chairmanship of its Speaker, Usama al-Nujeify and attendance of 171 members,” the media source told IraqiNews.com news agency, stressing that the session would witness the 2nd reading of the county’s Federal General Budget‘s draft-law for the year 2012. The Iraqi Parliament’s session last Tuesday had witnessed warm incidents, due to its boycott by al-Iraqiya Alliance and oppositions by the Kurdistan Alliance against a statement by a Member of the State of Law, against Iraqi President, Jalal Talbani, during which it ended the 1st reading of the Federal Budget‘s draft-law, adjourning it for the Saturday’s session. The Iraqi government had ratified the draft-law for the Federal Budget, passing it for the Parliament for approval, after decreasing its total value to 115 trillion (t) Iraqi dinars, along with an acceptable deficit. Noteworthy is that the draft-law for Iraq’s General Federal Budget for the year 2012 had decided to allocate 131 trillion (t) Iraqi dinars – (about US$112 billions (b) approx.), with an increase of 36% above last year’s budget, with a deficit that reached US$20 billion (b).
