Int’l football tournament to be held in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq will organize an international football tournament in Baghdad, with the participation of Iranian clubs, while a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed to contribute to developing relations in these fields, the Iraqi youth and Sports Minister disclosed today. In a press conference, attended by the visiting Iranian Youth and Sports Minister Dr. Mohammed Abbasi, he said that the international tournament will constitute three sports teams from each country to open a new page of cooperation. For his side, the Iranian minister stressed developing bilateral relations and hailed Iraqi move towards reconstruction and independence. The MoU included the exchange of visits and experts, workshops, studies and sports weeks. The Iranian delegation arrived last Tuesday, aiming to develop bilateral relations in the fields of youth and sports, as well as laying down the corner stone of a stadium to be built by an Iranian company.
