2 cops killed, injured in clash with escaped prisoners

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi police officer has been killed and another injured in a confrontation on Monday with a prisoner, who had escaped from Basra‘s Presidential Palace’s Prison 4 months ago, a Basra security source reported, adding that the escaped prisoner was killed in the clash. “Our forces have received an intelligence information that one of the terrorists, who had escaped from the Presidential Palace’s Prison had been hiding in a house in central Basra, where a clash took between our force and the terrorist, who used hand-grenades in the clash,” the security source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The clash had caused the killing of a police officer and wounding another, together with the terrorist who was also killed in the clash,” he added. Noteworthy is that the said prison had witnessed the escape of 12 prisoners, charged with terrorist cases, including several explosions in central Basra that killed and injured dozens of civilians, 4 months ago.
