Maliki cannot depend on Tech. Committee report on Mubarak Port – MP

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A legislature from Iraq’s White Bloc has called on Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Wednesday not to depend on the Technical Committee’s report regarding the losses caused by Kuwait’s Mubarak Port on the Gulf, during his expected visit to Kuwait. “The Technical Committee, formed to discuss the losses of Mubarak Port, only includes one member from Iraq’s Ministry of Transport; the other members are from the Ministries of Oil, Environment and Foreign Affairs, and these Ministries are not concerned with Mubarak Port‘s dossier as much as the Ministry of Transport,” a statement by Legislature Alia Nuseif stressed. “It is necessary for Maliki to listen to the opinion and consultation of the Transport Ministry and its technical experts who are specialized in this regard, and to act on basis of facts and proposals presented by the Ministry in this respect,” Nusief said. An Iraqi Parliamentary source recently stated that “the Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee, led by Humam Hummadi and attendance of the Parliament’s 1st Deputy Speaker, Qusay al-Suheil, had invited the Fact-Finding Committee about the construction of Mubarak Port, led by the Chairman of the Consultants Committee at the Council of Minister, Thamer al-Ghadban. Hummadi had explained that the Fact-Finding Committee’s final report would be discussed and the Foreign Relations Committee would then raise its final report to the Iraqi Parliament.
