Call for troops withdrawal in Sulaimaniya province – statement

SULAIMANITYA / IraqiNews.com:  The Kurdish opposition bloc in Kurdistan called for military forces withdrawal from Sulaimaniya city, pointing out that the protection of the demonstrators is not their duty, according to a statement. The statement received by IraqiNews.com noted that the opposition bloc (Change Movement, Islamic Federation and the Islamic Group) reiterated their demand for the withdrawal of security military forces from the city. A number of Sulaimaniya province areas witnessed last Friday a concentrated military presence, in expectation of any emergency cases, on the 17 February Anniversary. That date commemorates the Kurdish demands for political reforms with demonstrations that led to tens of casualties. RM (TP)/SR760
