Corruption dossiers may entangle ex-ministers, Parliamentary Integrity Commission

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com : MP Khalid al-Alwani, of Parliamentary Integrity Commission, disclosed today that “there are corruption dossiers that may entangle ministers of defence, interior, education, agriculture, municipalities, housing and reconstruction, and immigration. He added that these dossiers are connected with special projects of Sadr and Shu’la cities’ reconstruction, explosive detection equipment, printing machines and educational appliances, iron-cast schools, electricity contracts, defence airplanes and arms contracts and 5000 housing units in Basra, Nassiriya and Immara, which should be completed in 2007-2008. Alwani disclosed that minister of immigration was summoned to the parliament, where it was discovered part of the amounts allocated to Sadr and Shu’la cities were spent to by computer system and photo-copying machines. Commenting on the delay in investigating, he added that “the delay was due to the attack against Integrity Commission Investigating Bureau in November 2011, which resulted in killing 34 investigators, that obliged us to hand them to other personnel”. He confirmed that there is no dossier of corruption against any present minister except ex-electricity minister, who was replaced by another one. Alwani disclosed that “3 of the missing 7 trillions dinars were found which were spent as salary differences for education and interior officials in 2011”.
