More than 69,000 Iraqis killed between “2004-2011” – al-Dabbagh

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: More than 69,000 Iraqis have been killed as a result of terrorism and acts of violence since 2004 until 2011, official spokesperson of the Iraqi government said on Wednesday. “The number of Iraqis’ who have been killed since April 5, 2004 until the end of 2011, reached 69,263, as well as 239,133 wounded, according to government’s reports,” Ali al-Dabbagh said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “The highest number of casualties was in 2006 as 21,539 Iraqis were killed and 39,329 wounded, and the least were in 2011, during which 2,777 were killed,” he added. “Baghdad ranks first between 2004-2011 as regards the number of casualties with 23,898 killed, followed by Diala, Anbar, Ninewa and Muthanna, where only 94 people were killed,” he continued. “In 2007, Basra, Karbala, Wassit, Diwnaiya, Babel, Ninewa and Kirkuk saw the highest number of casualties compared to the other years,” he said.   SH (TS)/SR 633
