Parliamentary delegation visits the Sports City in Basra

Basra (IraqiNews.com) A parliamentary delegation of Ahrar bloc visited Basra today to check the work progress in the Sports City. 

A member of the delegation MP Oday Awad stated to the correspondent of (IraqiNews.com) on Wednesday that “We went to Basra to check the works in the Sport City after receiving several reports indicated corruption and obstacles in the project, we noticed some mistakes but what we saw calls us to the respect the national abilities since the levels of implementations reached good stages.” 

The member of Youth and Sports Parliamentary Committee MP Hussein Al Mansori of Ahrar Bloc stated that there are administrative and financial corruption in the Sports City project, which called the Ministry of Youth and Sports which supervise the works to invite the MPs to visit the city. 

The 21st Gulf Countries Cup GCC was scheduled to be held in Basra in 2013, Basra announced its readiness to host the championship through built a Sports City, but the secretaries of GCC unions decided at their meeting in Kuwait on the 31st of October 2011 to relocate the cup into Bahrain stressing that Iraq will host the 22nd version of this championship in 2015 after Bahrain.
