Obama congratulates Maliki for success of Summit
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, received a phone call from the US President, Barrack Obama, on Tuesday evening.
A statement by Maliki’s office received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) cited “Obama congratulated Maliki for the success of the Arab Summit which was held in Baghdad.”
“Obama appreciated Iraq’s positive role in the Region and its mutual efforts with the US to preserve the peace in the region,” the statement added.
“Both sides stressed the importance of exploiting such role as strategic partners,” the statement mentioned.
“Obama confirmed the US adherence to support the unity of Iraq and its democratic regime,” the statement continued.
“For his part, Maliki praised Obama’s role in protecting the Iraq funds,” the statement concluded.
