MP accuses Shahristani of corruption in Electricity Ministry

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Shalan Karim, of the Iraqiya Slate accused the Iraqi Deputy Premier for Energy Affairs, Hussein al-Shahristani, of “being responsible for the corruption in the Electricity Ministry.”

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he stated “Shahristani and the Undersecretaries in the EM are responsible for the delay in the performance of the projects due to their control on the contracts of the ministry.”

“There is a request to collect signatures to question Shahristani and the Undersecretaries over the corruption in the ministry and the funds that were allocated to the ministry,” he concluded.

It is worth mentioning that Iraq suffers from the crisis of the electricity where the power off reaches 16 hours per day in Baghdad in addition to the government’s incapacity to provide electricity during the last nine years.
