Babel PC member urges Goverment to save province of pollution

Babel (IraqiNews.com) The member of Babel Provincial Council from the Citizen Bloc, Salem al-Miselimawi urged the local and federal governments to take effective decisions that would reduce the pollution cases in the province.

Miselamawi said "The environmental posture in the province is very bad and in need for the local and central governments’ concerted efforts and the media outlets support."

He added "The last years witnessed inaugurating a large number of governmental institutions specialized in monitoring pollution; however these institutions have not been given enough authorities to punish the abusers of the environment in the province."

Babel PC’s member clarified "The pollution rates reached high levels in the Euphrates River, causing skin diseases and cancer," noting that "The province also suffers from spreading birth deformity due to exposing the pregnant women to the waste materials of factories in addition to the pollution resulted from existence of the military forces in the residential neighborhoods."
