Hakim, Maliki assure unity of INA, discuss holding national meeting

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, discussed with a delegation of the Dawa Islamic Party headed by the Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, the necessity of holding the national meeting for being the practical means to settle disputes according to the constitution and the national deals.

A statement by the SIIC, received by IraqiNews.com on Saturday, cited “Hakim received Maliki in his office in Baghdad on Friday.”

“The two sides discussed the political crises and the task of the Iraqi National Alliance to support the reformations of the government to serve the Iraqi people with participation of all the political blocs, assuring the unity of the INA to perform this task.”

Earlier, the leaders of the DIP represented by, Nouri al-Maliki, Mohamed al-Asadi, Amir al-Khuzai, Haider al-Ebadi, Hassan al-Sinied and Abdul Halim al-Zihieri, met with the leaders of the SIIC represented by Ammar al-Hakim, Jalal-il-Din al-Saghier, Abdul Hussien Abtan, Hameed Ma’la, Habib al-Turfi, Mohamed al-Hashimi and Ridha Jawad Taqi.

“The two sides will discuss the political situation and will emphasize the importance of holding the national meeting as the normal means for settling the current political crisis,” the source concluded.
