Talabani receives US Ambassador in Baghdad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The President, Jalal Talabani, confirmed to the US Ambassador, James Jeffrey, keeping on the efforts to settle the crisis and to eliminate the disputes that hurdle the political process.

Presidential statement received by IraqiNews.com cited “Talabani received Jeffrey and the accompanied delegation in Baghdad on Thursday evening,” noting that “During the meeting, Talabani talked about the political situation and the intensified meetings held to reach a solution for the current crisis.”

“Talabani indicated that reducing the tensions especially through the media statements is a basic step to achieve stability and to settle the disputes on the basis of the constitution and the former agreements,” the statement added.

“Jeffrey thanked Talabani and appreciated his efforts to end the crisis for the interests of the Iraqis as he confirmed the US support for the democratic political process,” the statement assured.

“Separately, they discussed the means of enhancing bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States of America,” the statement concluded.
