Basra (IraqiNews.com) The head of Basra Provincial Council, Sabah Hasan al-Bazouni, assured that “There is no legal basis for Basra Gas Company in the province,” noting that “Its current presence in the workplace does not have any benefit.” Bazouni said “There is no legal basis for this company,” stressing that “The Ministry of Oil denied any contract signed with Shell Company to erect Basra Oil Company.” He added “We sued the Ministry of Oil in order to reveal the sides behind forming this Company which is not related to any ministry or governmental side.” According to IraqiNews.com archive, the Council of Ministers approved in 2011, November, 15 establishing Basra Gas Company which will treat the gas associated with oil in Rumaila, Zubair and west Qurna fields. The Ministry of Oil had concluded a contract with Shell Co. and Mitsubishi Co. to establish Basra Gas Company.
