Maliki calls International Bank to support Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, called to find alternatives for oil revenues on which the Iraqi economy is completely dependent.

A statement by Maliki’s office received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) cited “Maliki received a delegation from the International Bank headed by the regional manager in Baghdad on Monday,” noting that “Maliki called the International Bank to support Iraq with experiences and to provide training opportunities to participate in upgrading the various sectors of the Iraqi economy.”

“Maliki assured that we will invest the oil revenues in the various sectors to avoid making the Iraqi economy dependent completely on the oil revenues,” the statement added.

“For his part, the regional manager of the International expressed the bank’s readiness to support Iraq to enhance its economy,” the statement concluded.
