Mosul Judicial Council suspends its works for week

Nineveh, Mosul (IraqiNews.com) The Judicial Council of Mosul city “suspended its activities for a week in protest on targeting its members and marginalizing the role of the Council,” according to the description of the Council.

The member of Mosul Judicial Council Zuher Hazem al-Jobouri reported in statement to IraqiNews.com on Tuesday that “The Head and the members of the Judicial Council decided during an emergency session to suspend all the works and activities of the Council for a week since the date of holding the session.”

The statement added that “The reason behind the suspensions of the Council is the repeated armed attacks against the members of the Council and assassinating many of them while neither the local nor the central government or the Nineveh Provincial Council or any other authorities showed any support to provide the necessary protection for the members of the Council.”

Al-Jobouri pointed out that “The Council decided that it has to have important stance to find solutions for the repeated attacks against its members specially after assassinating Hussein Ali Ahmed, the member of Mosul Judicial Council.”
