Zebari expects extending 5+1 meeting till next Thursday

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hoshyar Zebari, expected extending the 5+1 meeting in Baghdad till next Thursday.

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “It is not decided yet whether to extend the meeting for another day,” noting that “We are still waiting for the results of Wednesday meeting results.”

“Iraq’s role is limited only by providing logistics related to providing the suitable conditions for the meeting without being involved in the talks between the two sides,” Zebari concluded.

Earlier, the meeting of 5+1 started in Baghdad on Wednesday noon to negotiate over the Iranian nuclear program.

International Atomic Energy Agency chief, Yukiya Amano, on last Tuesday, said that he expects Iran to sign an agreement “quite soon” to allow inspections of facilities suspected of being used in a covert nuclear-weapons program.

The United States of America and the western countries accuse Iran of attempting to have a nuclear bomb; Iran denies these accusations confirming its intention to use the nuclear program for peaceful aims.

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, delivered a fatwa over prohibiting the use of the nuclear bomb which consolidates the Iranian intention to use the program for peaceful aims.
